Meet Pat Boyd

Welcome! I have lived and worked in the Quiet Corner my entire life. Born at Backus Hospital in Norwich, I attended Public Schools in Plainfield, and then attended Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic. My career in Education began at the Sterling Memorial School in Oneco, then at The Rectory School in Pomfret and for the last 14 years at the Pomfret School, where I currently serve as an Assistant Dean, History Teacher, Dorm Parent, and Coach for the school's Baseball and Soccer teams. It has been the greatest honor of my life to be elected to the General Assembly in 2016. In my short time in Hartford, I have worked on Rural issues, fiscal accountability and on issues important to the Quiet Corner, often a region underrepresented in the Capital.
I credit my interest in Public Service to my teenage years as a Boy Scout. While a Scout, I earned the Citizenship in the Nation Merit Badge and it sparked an interest that lead to a rewarding career teaching American History & AP American Government/Politics; It is awesome to see that same spark ignited in the eyes of my Students. However, I am saddened that the notion that civic involvement, as a tenant of being a good citizen, is something that is lost on many people in our society today. While attending college, I began dedicating my time serving the community as a First Responder, Volunteer Firefighter, Emergency Manager, Youth Programs and being active in serving Non-Profit Organizations. As an adult, I can see more than ever the importance of giving back to the community.
